INSPIRATION FOR AUTUMN/FALL 2010...GLAM!
This inspiration came solely from the glam rock gods and goddesses of the 70's....it incorporates a few of the elements and silhouettes of that trend. Hard shoulders, fluid tops, fur collars, long skinny bottoms, and jewelry with an edge are prominent. It is a very sexy look and it's influences range from the New York Dolls in glam's most extreme, to the irony in T Rex's Marc Bolan, an ever evolving David Bowie, pulling from the youth and brash femininity of Cherie Currie from the Runaways, and reflecting some of the careless sophistication of Bianca Jagger. This look translates to the mainstream for fall 2010 with looks incorporating soft faux fur collars, the use of a softer shoulder pad, long skinny high waisted pants and skirts, studded bags and updated, edgy platform heels. The use of black, cream, brown, purple and gold creates a strong and fun color palette. There is a structure, fluidity and conviction with the original look of glam, but pulling some of its elements into a modern casual look can really take it to a different and refreshing place....

To start: things that inspire me personally....
Below you will find Enlighten, Fable, and Sobriety. These are 3 trend forecasts for spring/summer 2011. I interpreted these trends in my own way.
Enlighten represents the most colorful of the 3. This trend is inspired by bright palettes, Indian influences, and other ethnic cultures combined. It is modern, fun and festive, and has some traditional influences. Life is celebrated again and adornments give a nod to experience, travel and an appreciation for culture.
Fable, the 2nd trend, is inspired by linear silhouettes, ornamental detail, and an 80's edgy take on the trend. I chose to go a more sequin glam route as opposed to the delicate route. What I like about this version of fable is that it is the more armored, more david bowie, more vintage rocker inspired as opposed to the whimsical side. For spring/summer these elements can be brought into more tanks, skirts, and strapless dresses. This has to be my favorite of the 3.
Sobriety, the last trend, is the more subtle. A very washed out color palette including both denim and lightweight fabrics, makes this trend easy and comfortable to wear in spring/summer. Lace, traditional lines, and simple shapes make this vintage bohemian feel eclectic, and the accents of brown, yellow, and blue are calming and timeless.
